Solitude Equals Self-Discovery

Let me be honest with you…I resisted this podcast for a long time.

I’m private. I’m protective. I’m the type that tells you to “do the thing” while I quietly debate whether I should do mine, but after everything I’ve walked through- heartbreak, healing, and evolution – I knew I couldn’t keep hiding.

Because the truth is: most of us are craving real connection, but we don’t know where to start.
And the even bigger truth?
Only 14% of Americans report being very happy.

Harvard’s longest-running study proves it:
People with quality relationships are happier, healthier, and live longer.

So here I am. Launching The Real Connect Podcast. Not because I wanted more visibility. But because I believe vulnerability is how we rise, and how we remember who we are.

Episode One: Solitude Equals Self-Discovery

The first story I share? It’s personal.
It’s uncomfortable.
And it’s necessary.

Let’s go back 15 years. I was in Chicago, living my “best life” on the outside… and dating my boss on the inside.

Yes, my boss.

It started with drinks to celebrate a work win and ended with years of emotional manipulation, slick comments, power plays, and isolation. It looked charismatic and “grown.” But it was a narcissistic relationship that slowly chipped away at my confidence.

I lost trust in my own judgment.
I stopped recognizing myself.
And I kept the relationship a secret from my mom, my friends, my people because I was ashamed.

But shame doesn’t heal you.
Solitude does.

From Chaos to Clarity: Why I Chose to Be Alone

When I finally got out of that relationship, I didn’t know what to do next.
I was depressed, confused, and grieving a version of myself I’d abandoned.

So I did something drastic.

I disconnected my internet.
I canceled my cable.
And I got quiet.

No more scrolling.
No more numbing.
Just me, music, a journal, and stillness.

It wasn’t easy.
But it changed everything.

Because what I found in that silence was me. My voice. My intuition. My creativity. My power.

And here’s what I realized:

Solitude equals self-discovery.
And self-discovery leads to real, lasting connection with others and with yourself.

If You’re Craving Real Connection, Start Here

Whether you’re navigating a toxic relationship, learning to trust yourself again, or simply trying to figure out how to build better relationships, this podcast is for you.

We’ll talk about it all:

  • Friendships that don’t feel aligned anymore
  • Networking that doesn’t feel natural
  • Romantic relationships that need more depth
  • Family dynamics that are draining
  • And most importantly, the relationship you have with yourself
  • Through personal stories, expert guests, and The Real Connect Frequency Journal, I’ll help you tune in to your emotional frequency, clear the noise, and connect with others in a way that feels real and not performative.

A Challenge for You: Be With Yourself

Let this episode be your sign to slow down and simmer with self.

Take yourself out.
Sit with your thoughts.
Write something just for you.
Light a candle.
Take a bath.
Go to the movies alone.

Whatever solitude looks like for you, do it.
Because that space?
That silence?
That’s where the magic is.

And when you come back to the world, you’ll be clearer, bolder, softer, and stronger.
Not because someone else validated you, but because you saw yourself again.
