This past weekend, I made a decision that wasn’t about spending but about seeding a legacy.
Night 2 of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour in Houston wasn’t just a concert for me but a full-circle moment.
I flew down to take my younger cousin, the same baby I once rocked to sleep 20 years earlier when I lived in Houston for a few months. She just graduated from Xavier this past May, and instead of sending a check or Cash App, I wanted to give her something she’d carry far longer than a deposit: an experience.
So we went all in.
- Excellent seats at the show
- A luxury rental and a gorgeous Airbnb
- Brunches where I told her to order whatever she wants
- Late-night Uber Eats and deep conversations
- Laughter, music, joy, Black excellence. All in one weekend
Because this is how I choose to share my blessings, and honestly, it’s how I build my brand and live my purpose.
Experiences shape us. I remember mine vividly.
I still think about one of my favorite cousins driving me around Seattle in her convertible BMW, Jermaine Dupri and Jay-Z’s “Money Ain’t a Thang” blasting through the speakers. I was just a kid, but that moment? It changed me. It gave me a glimpse into what was possible.
This weekend, I paid it forward.
Beyoncé gave us a show, yes, but also a masterclass.
The Cowboy Carter experience was monumental in production and vocals (which were perfection), but in the message, too:
- Freedom.
- Blackness as beauty and power.
- Love, gratitude, sisterhood.
- Boss energy and intentional excellence.
Beyoncé reminds us that walking in your purpose is about more than performance, but using it as a platform. She shines, but she also shares that shine. Her dancers, her crew, her musicians, she lets them be seen. She does it all with grace, vision, and Virgo precision.
I saw myself in that. I saw my mission, too.
This moment mirrors everything I do—through The Real Connect Podcast and Couples Experience.
I create real experiences because I believe in connection as a vehicle for growth. Whether it’s through a retreat, a curated journal, a vulnerable podcast episode, or flying my little cousin out to see Beyoncé, we change lives through presence.
Through energy. Through intention.
Trust me, more is coming. For Beyoncé. For me. For us.
Let’s keep building a world where more of this is possible and automatic.
